Splash

This is case file #4 from the sci challenge:
Here is what I created:

Evidence: Used a frame, wet medium, and something shiny and reflective.
Testimony: Wrote my journaling in a frame.

The banner was fun to make! I got out a lot of my punches and cut strips of paper and embellished.
Used my Sizzix to cut the metallic paper for my title.

Used a frame stamp from Stampin' up and used Broken China Distress ink. Cut the frames out freehand as well as the decorative edge and hand drew stitches. Used the smash date stamp. Since the oldest year on it was 2010, I had to get creative with the 2008 and stamp a number at a time. Messed up a little, but since it is Distress ink I used my water color brush and "washed" it away.

Since it is a page about splashing water, I put droplets of water on all of the stamped frames to look like it got splashed with water.

Supplies used: Metalic stitched paper- old American crafts, I believe, Fabric on the light blue pennants was from package lining of a baby gift I received, Chipboard edge with matching sticker- Pink Paislee, Punches- ek sucess, Stampin' up, Creative Memories, and couple of others.

Month 9

Here is case file #3 on csi challenge.

Here is what I created:

For my evidence I used a few tags, sheer ribbon, doily print and circle elements. And then for my testimony I journaled on the tags.

I used sketch #71 from Sketch Savvy, one of my favorite sketch sites.

Supplies used: Becky Higgins baby kit for the month 9 element, the photo corners, and the scallop on the left side, Girls Paperie die cuts and paper, doily trim from Basic Grey. Used stamps from Technique Tuesday for the journaling.

I added the pink strip of paper to the left hand side of the page. Seems more balanced to me.

Destination Wedding

Here is a layout I created for my Dad's wedding.

My Dad and Michele got married somewhere off the coast of Florida and I thought this paper from BoBunny was perfect for their sunrise photos.

I have just recently changed my adhesive of choice. I used to use Herma Dotto Permanent adhesive. Loved it, but I hated how it gummed up my dispenser. I had 3 dispensers on hand so I could clean them out in turn. Decided to give Tombow Mono Dots Adhesive Permanent Adhesive a try. So far no complaints. Love the drop in refills! Always purchase my adhesive through www.ScrapbookPal.com. They have the best prices anywhere and with a $25 purchase, shipping is free. Gotta love that!

I die cut the title with my Cricut Expression using the Jubilee font. Used my favorite tool, Tim Holtz tiny attacher to attach the trim to the tag. Used some trim in my stash (or was is my friend Kelly's at the crop :) ) that was the perfect orange to edge my tag sticker. Layered it over a burlap piece I had laying around.

Used some Technique Tuesday stamps on vellum using black Stazon ink for the title, sentiment, date, and along the bottom of the photos. Used the Corner Chomper to round the corners of the vellum.

My Cup is Full

This is the second case file for the sci challenge.
This is the layout I created:

I found some Basic Grey scraps in my stash along with the coordinating ribbon doilies that happened to match most of the colors in this challenge. Then because of the photo of Alice, I chose some photos of my sister, kids and I on the Mad Hatter's Tea Cup ride in Disneyland.

I used my Cricut to cut the tea cups and tea pot from the Disney Classics cartridge. Embellished with some flower brads (making memories) and flowers from my stash. Used some black tulle to put along the top as a sheer element and balance out the black in the diecuts. Used the tag punch from Stampin' Up to make the tea tag.

CHAW12 sketch contest submission

I found a sketch contest at Pagemaps blog to create a layout with this sketch.

This is what I created:

I used a Martha Stewart border punch to punch the holes to weave my ribbon. I used a Technique Tuesday stamp set (title, sentiment, and sea shells) and embossed with Stampin' up embossing powder. Used a Fiskars punch for the postage stamp and used some buttons and embroidery floss to finish it off. Paper used was Making Memories and something I am sure is over 5 years old :)

Don't usually create layouts with so much "white" space. It was nice to try something different.

Thanks for looking!

sci layout challenge

I created a layout for a challenge at S.C.I (Colors Stories Inspiration)

This is what I created.

I was very upset with photos I had from this event. Some were blurry, some didn't have a clear focal point, etc. I think they were some of the first photos that I took with my first digital camera. I found a layout my friend Tami used for a layout and traced it back to a one page sketch from Susan Stringfellow. With the tags I could crop close and small and the imperfections aren't as obvious.

Evidence that I collected: numbers, a bow, distressing (around the tags) and a lacy element.

My testimony included: Document something crazy or silly, journal on tags, and used words like chaos and random.

Really enjoyed this challenge. The hardest part was trying to find things that matched the colors in my stash. The small number tags were the closest ink color that I had to the grey. Hope it's close enough!

Supplies : Patterned paper- We R Memory Keepers, Lace paper- KI memories, Stamps- Technique Tuesday & Stampin' Up, Leather Thickers- American Crafts, Twine- Martha Stewart

December Daily --Finishing Touches

So my December Daily Project is complete! Here are some of the finishing touches I made to my album.

Title Page: This is the very first page in the album. At the beginning of this project I wrote something to myself on why I decided to start this project this year. I decided to incorporate a little of that in the journaling of this page. I used A few tags and die cuts I had on hand for the base. Used the November Studio AE stamp set.

The Album: Used the Ali's December Daily stamp set as well as the November Studio AE set to title my album. I was surprised at the rarity of 6x6 albums! Found this We R Memory Keepers leather album at Archivers. It turned out perfect with one exception.....

The binder ring isn't big enough! I know Ali Edwards warned of this in the beginning and she wasn't kidding! Found some green ribbon in my stash to help hold it closed.

Hope you enjoyed my December Daily. I am glad I took the journey and was able to finish it!

Things I hope to remember to do differently next year: bigger pages (6x6 is just a HARD size to work with!), bigger album, start earlier with a more defined plan (sketches, maybe)

Things I hope to do again: use a kit or line of paper for the whole album, made the decision process easier, journal that day so at least that is done for each day.

Can't wait to clear off my desk and scrap something different!

December Daily Day 31

Day 31: Since I didn't want to have a final filler page and I didn't really have a lot for this day, I made it a one pager. The last page in the album. Used November Studio AE stamp set and the Thickers to complete this page.

December Daily Day 30

Sorry for such a dark photo. I waited for the daylight to take this, but it is such an overcast day, may as well be night!

Day 30: This day I used the Girls' Paperie letter stickers for the title. I used the sticker that we wore during the event. Used Technique Tuesday stamp set for the train tracks the rail road crossing sign and stop light.

December Daily Day 29

Day 29: Nearing the end of my December Daily journey! On this day the kids and I went to the Magic House, a Children's museum. We received a membership there for Christmas. Added the sticker they had us wear on the right with the journaling. Title uses a past Studio AE stamp set, the Thickers, and Girls' Paperie letter stickers. Made a banner out of some Elle's Studio pennants and added number stickers to one, stamped with the November Studio AE stamp set and finished it off with some red embroidery floss.

December Daily Day 28

Day 28: This day I  took a few photos of our Nativity set given to me when I was first married from my mother-in-law. The kids and I sang "happy birthday" to baby Jesus this day before I packed it back up. My daughter found it to be another doll house and had the sheep teetering on the roof. I knew if I didn't want it broken, it was time to put it away!

December Daily Day 27

Day 27: These pages have actually been done for some time. I knew what I wanted to do and had it pretty much completed the next day. Used the parenthesis and dots from the Thickers alphabet to create a border for my right page photo. I swear I am going to use the whole thing before I am done :)

December Daily Day 26

Day 26: I struggled with this day as well. I had taken quite a few photos, my sister had sent me hers as well, and I had to figure out how I was going to represent the day....a ton of photos, a few.....so, I picked one favorite photo of each of my kids and one of my grandma on the right and a group shot on the left. Used some Girls' Paperie word stickers, Ali Edwards journaling stamp and an Elle's Studio tag to finish off the pages.

December Daily Day 25

Day 25: So I finally finished Christmas day! I was held up because I didn't know if I just wanted the one photo on the left or if I wanted to add the collage on the right. Once I realized I was going to use a collage, I couldn't decide if I was going to wait for some photos from my family to round out the people in them, but I decided to go ahead with what I had to finish it up!

Almost used a page out of a day planner with the hourly times on it but two things were wrong with it. It only had times during an normal work day (8-6) and our day started and ended outside of those times, and  the one I had was blue. Not very Christmasy. I opted to hand write it myself.

Used November 2011's Studio AE stamp set along with the Ali Edwards December Daily set.

December Daily Day 24

Happy New Year! December is officially over! I am about one week behind on my December Daily. Hoping to crank out the next few days tomorrow! We shall see :)

Day 24: We did a lot of different things on Christmas Eve but I decided to focus on one thing instead of the whole list of things. I decided to simplify the right page and only have the journaling block. After so many collages and long journaling pages in this album, I thought this was a good way to go for this day.
