Project Life May 12-18, 2014

It has been tough to get my layouts done with my daughter home for a week, the last week of school, with parties and half days, and now summer. I need to schedule some time for myself to get them done, or they just won't!

Here is my Project Life layout for May 12-18, 2014.

This week, I went against my digital norm and selected multiple colors for my layout. I had these Bella Blvd. digital elements that had multiple colors and I noticed a lot of red in my photos so I just went with it.

Designer Digitals had a sale a couple weeks back, and I purchased a few things on my wish list. One of the sets I purchased were the Ali Edwards Edge Sentiments and Brushes Vol. 01. I love Ali Edwards' stamps so it isn't a wonder that I love her digital elements as well. I have been liking adding journaling on my photos, but sometimes I want the journaling to have more of a "home" and these are nice for that. You can see my use of it on the bottom right photo of my husband and daughter. You can "erase" the boxed lines ( just don't save the original that way!) and use just the sentiment which makes them a bit more versatile.

Created my own journaling card with the red arrow. The arrow comes from a the digital Cherry Project Life kit that I just recolored. Other than the Bella Blvd. elements, not much else going on here. I did alter the happy birthday title. It said happy happy birthday and I erased one of the happys and put the 40th instead.

Working on last weeks Project Life layout already and hope to have it ready this weekend or early next week.

I am also taking The Art + Science class at Big Picture Classes, and been really challenged with the right-brained challenges (I am left-brained) and not as much with the left-brained challenges. Hoping to be able to create some of those pages soon. Hopefully before the class is over!

Hope you are enjoying your summer! Thanks for looking!

Project Life May 5-11, 2014

Here is myProject Life layout for May 5-11, 2014.

This week I took inspiration from the flowers I got for mother's Day. I found some flowers that were included in the free Cherry Edition of digital Project Life and created my own title and journaling cards.

Lots going on these past few weeks. I guess that shows in the amount of words on my layout!
My daughter had surgery during this week, and had to miss a week of school afterwards, so not a lot of scrapbooking happen that week.

I had a lot more photos of different events this week, like her surgery. Lots more words too, but I had to remind myself the place for all of those would need to be another scrapbook layout, not Project Life. It helped me stay high level and remember my goal for this project.

This week my kids will be finishing up school for the year. Summer vacation has officially started today for my older one. Not sure how I am going to fit this project in my summer schedule, but I love being current, so I am going to figure it out.

Hope to have last weeks Project Life pages done soon, maybe even this week!

I also have so many page ideas curating that I want to work on. I may have to tell my kids they have to play by themselves for a bit so I can play!

Thanks for looking!

Project Life- April 28- May 4, 2014

Here is my layout for April 28-May 4, 2014.

Pink ended up being my color choice this week. I picked a color that Maddie likes since it was her birthday week.

I have really enjoyed mixing the fonts Bebas Neue and CKAli'sHand, both free to download.

Kept this week more simple than last, but still added some fun little bits that I had in my stash. Still lots of words!

By the way, PSE does NOT have spell check, so if you find an error. please let  me know, so before I send them out to print, I can correct it! Thanks!

My daughter is getting her tonsils and adenoids taken out this week, and she will have to miss a week of school. I am hoping to find time to work on next week's layout, but who knows.

Another note, I am trying out the email function of the blog. Let me know if it works for you or if you like it!

Project Life- April 21-27, 2014

This is my layout for April 21-27, 2014.

This week, I got a little more into embellishing. I found a really cute (and free) mini card kit on Pinterest. It matched a little banner that I had in my stash and the layout was born.

If you are interested in what I used, leave me a comment and I will look it all up.

I didn't have enough journaling or photos to fill every pocket this week, which is rare. I found a quote card that was the right colors that I put in the first "3x4 pocket." It had too much yellow, so I layered another paper over most of it so it would fit the layout better.

For this page I used a couple of 6x6 layered templates to make collages for some of my photos this week. Used the banner a couple more times on this page. Found a tag with the perfect aqua heart for my journaling of Maddie and my walk.

Really loved how this week turned out. Makes me tempted to get more digital card kits! They are nice when I have multiple "4x6 pockets" to fill.

Hope everyone had an awesome National Scrapbook Day! Didn't get any scrapbooking done, myself. Busy hosting my daughter's 5th birthday party!

Thanks for looking!

Card happy!

This week I had felt a little burned out creatively. I had no interest in working on my Project Life album 2013, that is, after finishing the digital pages for last week 2014.

I decided to play with a Studio Calico card kit that I had gotten cheap with a coupon code from Big Picture Classes National Scrapbook Day event. (You can still sign up for the event, but I don't know the availability of the discounted kits.)
This is Studio Calico's CUPPA card kit that I used to make my cards.

The first thing I did was cut all the 8.5x11 sheets of cardstock in half and folded those in half for my card bases. The first card I made was simple. I cut a square card from the 6x6 paper pad and embellished with one of the bows in the kit.

The second card inspiration came from the stamps included in the kit and this card sketch from Studio Calico's blog. For the sentiment I used a now retired Technique Tuesday Birthday stamp set.

For the third card, I was inspired to use the circular stamp. The Hello sentiment fit in it so I chose that and heat embossed it in gold. I used some green chevron washi  and glitter tape from my stash and layered some punched hearts over them.

This card wound up being one of my favorites. I found the a sheet in the 6x6 pad with the frames and cut one out. Heat embossed the thank you sentiment with white embossing powder. Embellished with some of the star confetti in the kit.

My nephew's graduation is coming up soon, so that inspired this card. I used the brick paper from the 6x6 pad and heat embossed the "you are here" sentiment with black embossing powder. This stamp came from a previous Studio Calico Project Life kit. I had a piece of graduation vellum in my stash that I cut the hat and certificate out of. Used some silver photo corners also found in my stash.

Also had a first communion card to make. Other than the base, this was made with things from my stash. I actually recycled the flowers from a card I had received. I heat embossed the sentiment in white and added a banner with the hand written sentiment in silver pen.

This card still feels a bit unfinished for me. I used another piece of the brick paper and heat embossed the stamped images in black embossing powder. Added a strip of red cardstock and stitched the Xs (used an Amy Tangerine embroidery stencil) with the grey thread included in the kit. I think it may need two more red things to finish it off.

So that's what I have been doing. Happy to have been able to play a bit with my supplies, use up a chunk of the kit, and use the stamps. Happy to have some cards on hand to send out.

Don't know that making the cards has cured my burnout, but I am no worse off!
