Delight

The layout I am sharing today and as inspired by the Delight Story Stamp from Ali Edwards.

The layout foundation was inspired by a sketch and I modified it to hold my story and photos.

The strips were the design element I was excited to play with. I thought about pulling out different border punches and pulling a collection of papers to create. As soon as I ran across this paper by Amy Tangerine, the work was done for me! I fussy cut all of the strips out to allow me to tuck photos in the layers as well as add a lot of dimension and texture. 

I used many of the Delight stamps on tags to tuck into the layers as well. Found a Amy Tangerine ticket from the same collection that was perfect as it had a five on it and there were 5 of us on this adventure.

It is a bit busy on the eyes but I love how it turned out!

Ally- Month 7

 Sharing another layout for Shimelle’s Layer on Layer on Layer class to put in my daughter’s baby album.

The lesson was on scraplifting yourself. I chose a baby album layout from Maddie’s album. I didn’t realize it used a sketch from Shimelle’s Design Decisions class when I chose it!

This layout started with the Little By Little paper pad. It had papers with a mix of navy and red that are in the photo along with softer pinks.

I have really been enjoying the dives into my stash to create these layouts for this class. I used some old chipboard buttons, fabric stickers, puffy stickers, and stickers from the Vicki Boutin sticker book.

Used some navy twine for the buttons and a doily from my stash. 

To repeat the white die cut look I’m the other clusters, I die cut the doily/lace trim using a Tim Holtz die.

Love the mix of things to add layers and happy to bash some things from my stash! Not to mention another layout done for this album!

Ally-Month 8

Sharing a layout for my daughter’s baby album as well as for an assignment for Shimelle’s Layer on Layer on Layer class.

The challenge was to use a sketch that has one embellishment marked and use it as a place to add layers of embellishments.

I used the sketch Shimelle used, in part because I never thought to use a different one.

The papers are an old but good collection from My Mind’s Eye, Alphabet Soup. Most from the girl pieces but the chipboard was from the boy. I couldn’t pass up that penguin piece!

I also dug into my American Craft sticker books for pieces to use as well as my die cut title I cut on my Silhouette.

Finally broke out my tab stamp and dies from Elle’s Studio! They were super fun to use to customize the color and sentiments! 

The picture perfect stamp didn’t work initially, but I had Shimelle’s voice in my head saying, “ that’s all right! Just an excuse for another layer!” I then pivoted and stamped it on a label from one of the sticker books and I think I like it better!

I found a girl and penguin in my stash with the papers from MME and thought it couldn’t be more perfect! 

Love that Shimelle’s class is really stretching me to dive into my stash! It is also getting me to mix collections and manufacturers, something I tend to struggle with!

Ally- Month 4

 Sharing a layout with you that was inspired by Shimelle’s class Layer on Layer on Layer. I am taking this class with my fellow members at Simple Scrapper throughout the year and excited to finish the first assignment!

This layout is another from Ally’s baby album. 

The assignment was to select a challenging background paper. Shimelle’s was a photo realistic paper, but after searching my stash I didn’t find any that fit the bill for photos I had on hand. 

When I ran across this floral paper from We R Memory keepers, I knew it would be perfect for this challenge. It is part of a paper pad. I had purchased it because of the versatility of the other papers in the pad and I do think I had any intention of using this paper, as a full background anyway.

I went to town layering, trying to hit different textures. Ally’s clothes have a color scheme that was popular back in 2009 (one of Maddie’s originally). I had found an old S.E.I kit in my stash that was from this time and the colors were a perfect    match. 

One of the SEI papers had boxes that had different little girl sentiments. I cut many of them out and placed them as a triangle around the page.

I found the circle title die cut, that coordinates with the other baby album layouts and placed it on the page. 

To repeat the white die cut look, I decided to use the same white card stock to cut the hearts. The confetti of hearts that were made in die cutting we used in threes in all areas of embellishments.

To add a different texture, I used some enamel shaped hearts to sprinkle around each cluster.

I created a cluster on the right side of the title as Shimelle had in her example.

Last step I found an old Technique Tuesday/Ali Edwards baby stamp set and stamped three sentiments around the page. Then used the heart stamp in that set to sprinkle a few more hearts around the clusters.

This page isn’t my usual style with the background paper and color scheme, but I think it makes a lovely addition to Ally’s baby album.

Hello Transition

The layout I am sharing today was inspired by the change Story Class. Before I got around to making the page, Ali Edwards released the transition Story class, which this also worked for so I wound up using stamps from both themes.

Papers are from Maggie Holmes. 

The layout needed a bit of sparkle so added a bit of Heidi Swapp’s gold color shine. Also added some enamel dots from my stash.

Connect together

This layout was inspired by the Connect Story Stamp theme. 

I really found this stamp set very versatile. I found so many ways to use multiple stamps on this layout. 

The collection, Pink Paislee’s Switchboard, was also so very perfect for this layout! I had received the 6x6 paper pad, dies and stickers as a door prize for attending a crop ages ago and it was calling to me when I knew I wanted to tell the story.

I used this sketch to begin this layout. The I decided to create my own scallop border, shown in the sketch,   by using the dial paper and lining them up. Love that small touch!

Now this photo is not the best quality but, I went on search for the print of this and only found one original   scrapped with the background cut away, or the index print back from the negative sheet. This photo was taken on advantix film that is in the cartridges. Getting it reprinted would have required the whole being digitized and the cost and time was prohibitive for this project. The other photos on the roll were not worthy of the effort either. So I took a picture of the index sheet and printed small. Love having it on the layout, even in this state. The other photos on this layout were images of a phone I used to call him on. 

I love having this story documented. My kids seemed to be interested in how so much in technology has changed how we connect. So happy to add this to my albums!

#Quilt Love

 This layout made it to my bucket list when the Fabric Story theme was released. When I thought of stories that had to do with fabric, this quickly came to mind.

My husband’s aunt made each of my kids a homemade quilt. I love each one of them so much!

I used some of Paige Evans hexagon paper. This pattern screamed quilt with the faux stitching. I then added real stitches on the white stitches. 

I added some stamping on some of the hexagons from the Fabric Story Stamp. 

The subtitle was created with “handmade” made from the craft Story Stamp and piece by piece from the fabric set.

Title and hearts were created with Thickers.

Love these layouts that show all of my kids at about the same age. Love hahaving this bucket list story told!
