Rosie’s Baby Album- seven months

Created this layout for my youngest daughter’s baby album using a sketch in the Simple Scrapper membership.

Used a few papers from an old WeRMemory Keepers baby collection.

Die cut the title on my silhouette using a digital stamp from Ali Edwards.

Created coordinating journaling pages that will go back to back in a 8.5 x 11 page protector.

I always struggle making sure I leave myself enough coordinating supplies (I may have had to gut the blue paper behind the photo to have enough to die cut the title 🤪)  but pulled it together.

Thanks for looking!

Reads 2023

The layout I am sharing today was inspired by a Refresh prompt at Simple Scrapper. We were to tell a story about a passion of ours, collect items and photos to tell the story, and do something out of our comfort zone to create the layout.

I have been purchasing products and stamps to tell stories about my passion for reading for a while and this is one of the first to use these supplies!

Goodreads luckily allowed me to go back to previous years of what I have read easily with all of the book covers. I was able to screenshot to add to this layout.

I rarely select a solid background because it makes me uncomfortable but it was a perfect match for the Shimelle book paper from an older collection.

I created a “bookmark” to tuck behind the journaling and decorated with stamps from Kerri Bradford.

Other stamps were from Ali Edwards Read Story Stamp and Heidi Swapp.

This feels more simple than my typical style, but love that this story is told!

Thanks for stopping by!

10 Things I Love About You

This layout was inspired by Ali Edwards Story Stamp for the theme of For the Love.

I journaled for this quite a while ago but when I went to make the layout, I remember I had a pocket from Little Yellow Bicycle that would be perfect to hold the journaling! The banner on the bottom of the pocket had choices to customize and “you” was perfect! I used the other banners around the page since they coordinated, and were great to tuck in the layers. Using pockets is also a challenge this Journey at Simple Scrapper!

The color scheme was then chosen by the colors in the pocket.

The stamped background was an idea lifted from a layout in the classroom by Ali to layer a few of the stamps together. I chose to have my hearts all say the same thing, so used a “you” stamp from the Type Story Stamp. I filled in with a few other hearts stamps from my stash, the medium was from the Comfort Story Stamp and the small was from the XO Story Stamp.

The background still seemed a bit sparse so I added a few enamel hearts and splattered a bit of ink to give it a bit more texture.

Love how this layout turned out and to use the pocket that has been languishing in my stash!

Thanks for looking!

Write a Good Story

Sharing a layout today that was inspired by Shimelle’s Layer on Layer on Layer class as well as Ali Edwards’ Story Stamp for the theme of Write and worked for a challenge at Simple Scrapper to capture another person’s voice.

When I saw the Story Stamp theme of write I knew it would be perfect to capture my oldest daughter’s love of writing books.

I used Vicki Boutin’s Discover + Create collection using paper and the paperie pack for the journaling spot and labels. I found the pencil die cut in my stash.

This layout uses inspiration from Shimelle’s lesson on using envelopes and pockets for layering in Layer on Layer on Layer. I used some glassine pockets to hold miniature copies of the books my daughter created. The were full legal sized books and for them to easily be included I copied and reoriented at a quarter of its original size.

Including the books captured her voice on this layout. The book that she wrote all about her captures her favorites and things she finds important about her right now. So fun to read!

She has loved to created books even before she could write words! Now that she does write, they are so fun to read!

Because of her creative spelling in her earlier book, I created labels that translated to be understood.

Love to have her books captured and this story told in this way! Thanks for stopping by!

Rosie- 4 Months

Sharing the first of many of my daughter’s baby album layouts! So excited to be making progress on this album project!

The plan for this album is similar to my other baby albums. A  layout, a journaling insert and a collage of monthly photos for each month of her first year. There will be additional layout for first holidays and events as well as birth story and waiting for you type layouts.

For this layout I started with a sketch from this journey’s Spark Magazine in the Simple Scrapper membership. It was also a stash buster which coincided with the Stash Bash event! Loved getting these flowers out of my stash and onto a layout!

I used supplies from Simple Stories Color xxx collection as well as some old Quick Cutz dies for the foliage.

I created the title from a digital stamp from Ali Edwards paired with a blocky font I stretched to fit the width of the “months” word, that you will see the same style repeated in the album.

After learning from the last baby album that it was easier to create the journaling insert along side the layout that after the fact so that it could coordinate, I am able to share those as well.

I used another Ali Digital Stamp to cut the title as well as the same font in a banner for continuity.

So happy to be at a great start with this album! Thanks for stopping by!

Best Little Surprises

Sharing a layout today that I created for the Surprise Story Stamp by Ali Edwards.

This tells the story of the “little surprises” that my youngest would bring home in her preschool bag after school.

I selected a notebook paper from my stash, as well as primary colored papers, to go with the school theme. I had rolls of decorative edged papers that I used around the layout.

As was a creative challenge at Simple Scrapper this journey, I created a pocket out of the bag photo, so the photos of the surprises could tuck in. The surprises come out of her bag just like real life.

I created tags out of the surprise photos and added twine to make easy to pull them out.

Along with the Surprise story stamp that I used the title and sentiments around the page for, I also used arrows from the 49 and Market Arrows Stamp set as well as the stitched circle stamp from Elle's Studio.

Some close ups of the embellishment clusters and stamping.

Thanks for stopping by for a look!

The Beginning of COVID

Sharing a double page layout that was inspired by Ali Edwards’ Story Stamp for the theme of Begin.

I found the journaling came easier for this topic using the journaling prompt, “in the beginning” , I think because, when did it end? This allowed me to write about all aspects of things during this time and I didn’t feel like I had to have photos for all of them.

I wrote the journaling before I had a clear idea of how I wanted to use the stamps but I challenged my self to use some of them in the end, even if they aren’t very prominent.

I wanted a creative way to showcase the journaling cards that came in the Scrapbook Customs Covid paper collection, as well as have room for lots of photos and journaling and this 2-page design was born.

So glad to have this story told! Thanks for checking it out!

Game Time

I am sharing a layout that was inspired by Ali Edwards’ Story Kit for the theme of Play.
During Simple Scrapper’s Refresh Retreat, one of the challenges was to tell a story about something we no longer play. I had had the photos of our game closet printed a while ago, but contrary to how I usually create, the story had not been written yet for these.
I chose to write this story from a different perspective given this challenge.

When selecting products, I chose to find something that was playful to go with the theme. I found this rainbow paper in Vicki Boutin’s Sweet Shop collection and thought it would be perfect.

For my journaling, I used the Story Kit “game time” card. I decided to mat using black to bring it all together.

I thought the acetate “let’s play” piece nestled well in the white space at the top and opted for stitching it on rather than staples or other adhesive.

I struggled to think of embellishments that would work for this story but I remembered I had a game related stamp set from Elle’s Studio. I used it to stamp pawns and dice.

Spinners are also related to games and I had the vellum specialty paper from VB that I stamped some arrows and turned them into some.

I used some VB foam Thickers from a SCT Sampler kit that had this collection to embellish a bit more as well as some phrase stickers from the Story Kit for each embellishment cluster.

Happy with how it turned out even if it is nothing like I had thought it would when I printed these photos a few years back. Happy to have this documented!

Burst Open

The layout I am sharing was inspired by the Ali Edwards Stork Kit theme of Open. I purchased the add on vellum tags with my Story Stamp set, giving me a taste of the kit without all of the components.

While watching Shimelle’s BOBW lives, she created a clothes line sketch and layout and thought it would be the perfect use of the tags!

I had quite the story to tell so this composition allowed for the space yet giving me room to play with the tags.

The background paper is an oldie but goodie Basic Grey background. I modified some of the tags length and even cut an element out of the middle of one that was getting covered by a photo to use elsewhere on the page.

One of the limitations of using sticker paper for the journaling is that it can only go up to 10.5 inches wide, which doesn’t span across the 12x12 canvas. To make this look more intentional I created an embellishment cluster to the right of it.

For a touch of color and the look of bursting open, I tore 2  edge sections of the background and peeled it back, exposing some Story Kit paper I had picked up from a revisited sale.

Happy with how this one turned out. Thanks for visiting!

Rosie Makes

The layout I am sharing today was inspired by Ali Edwards’ Story Stamp for the theme of Make.

I went on a photo hunt for ways that Rosie was making for a few weeks. I was amazed at how many photos I took and found in my camera roll that worked for this story!

Because the photos had quite a few colors I used Vicki Boutin’s products, especially the rainbow paper to pull it all together.

I used the “making” stamp to make little labels for each of the photos and embellished with a few others in this set.

I hand cut the title to be on theme, being handmade. I thought it was also a way for me to bash some of the 6x6Vicki Boutin papers in my stash.

Love how this turned out! Thanks for stopping by!

This is What I Love Right Now-Maddie@14

Every year on my kids’ birthdays I document their favorites. I capture the same list of things every year. Fun to see how things change and stay the same.

For this year’s favorites, I used a stamp set from Studio Calico and Ali Edwards Now Story Stamp, and most pieces come from a SCT Sampler. I used a Vicki Boutin paper for the circle.

Love the butterflies for this since I feel my daughter has grown and changed so much this year!

Design a Life I Love

Here is a layout I created using the Story Kit and stamp for the theme of Design.

The border stamping was a technique that Ali Edwards used in creating her layout for the classroom and I mimicked here.

Love how it turned out and I want to do stamping like this again on another layout!
