Project Life - June 2-8, 2014

Here is my Project Life layout for June 2-6, 2014.

For this weeks title card and a few of the journaling cards, I used Becky Higgins' digital Cherry Edition. The rest I kept fairly simple with words.

Love it when my little sister hangs out with my kids. She is always good for some selfies and is also good about sharing them on Facebook, where I can steal them for my Project Life layouts. The photo collage is made up mostly of the photos she took. Ali's edge sentiment made it again on this weeks layout.

The first card is paper and an arrow from the Cherry Edition. Again, mainly photos and words.

So happy to be current. Hope to share last week's layout this week as well.

Project Life - May 26- June 1, 2014

Here is my layouts for May 26 - June 1, 2014.

I had a ton of photos this week and I struggled figuring out how I was going to fit them all in. I knew that I would need an "insert" but it was difficult to decide how many and at what configuration.

Our summers aren't busy, necessary, I try to keep them low key, but we do little activities almost every day that usually get photographed.

This week's layout I started with a title card freebie from Persnickey Prints. Added more of the edge sentiments from Ali Edwards as well at word art from her Hello Story class.

Made a configuration of photos that worked for me this week. Moved the 4x6 photo that is usually at the top to the middle so I could compare the two 4x6 photos more easily.

BTW I have a ton of cake walk pictures that I could have done an entire insert on, but I opted to save those pictures for another project.

Here is the insert. Keep in mind the right side of this page will be trimmed off in the photo book. Went with black and white photos for this one so they wouldn't take so much attention to the main story and photo, as well as clash with the colors selected for this week's spread.

Here is the back of the insert.

Thanks for looking! On to enjoying summer.

Still only 1 week behind! It is a record! Totally loving digital project life!

OLW 2014-May

The assignment for Ali Edward's One Little Word for the month of May was to create 2.5x3.5 inch cards for a pocket page. Each card was supposed to be a small mixed media canvas to use paint, stamps, stencils and just have fun getting crafty. Afterwards when every thing was dry we were to complete the "I am...." statement.

Here is what I created for the prompt.

I used white paint with a bit of distress ink refill mixed in to create green and pale pink paint. Used to to coat some of them entirely, some I stenciled flowers and leaves. Then I used Heidi Swapp color shine, some with other stencils, others to add splatter. Used some Studio Calico stamps for the background layers. Then I used some more stamps, an alpha to create the "I am"  some phrases from some Technique Tuesday stamp sets from Ali to finish off the journaling prompt. Also used the geo tag from a Citrus Twist stamp set. Found some fabric labels that worked for the prompts and attached them with staples from my tiny attacher.

I had fun with this assignment. I tend to be a perfectionist, or afraid to take risks and for this project, I could let all that go. It was fun to get inky and play with some of my stuff, that would otherwise sit.

Sketch-n-Scrap Card Challenge #27

My daughter has had summer camp all last week, so my son and I had some time at home by ourselves. My son asked to scrapbook when he saw me looking at this sketch from Sketch-n-Scrap.

We both created a card based on this sketch.

The first is the one I created.

I used some left overs from a Basic Grey Page of the Month kit that I had on hand from a few years ago. Loved this epoxy sticker. Distressed the edges with Walnut Distress ink.  Added some buttons from my stash and loved the card as a result.

Here is the Father's Day card my son made.

He had found some Bella Blvd paper scraps that I had leftover from a layout I had created years ago. He went with some striped wash tape to go across the banners and selected and placed the buttons himself. I think the buttons were his favorite part of the sketch. He LOVES buttons! He even curled the hand cut banners at the bottom for more dimension. He selected a Stampin' Up! rub-on for the sentiment and used foam adhesive to pop it up. The last touch, he used the picket fence Distress marker to make a frame.

Love this challenge! So much fun crafting with my son!

Project Life-May 19-25, 2014

Here is my Project Life layout for May 19-25, 2014.

Had a little fun with my title card this week. I went with something with a lot of color again.  Used the Ali Edwards digital brushes that I just purchased, again this week, which you will probably see a lot of from now on.

I have lots of photos and words again this week. Struggled including everything I wanted to, but I am happy with it.

This week I went with a Design D, with the large vertical photos. This layout aways feels more energetic and I struggle to use it. I had more vertical photos I wanted to feature this week, so design D it was.

I used a freebie from Cathy Zielski- the "school's out for summer" that was originally the other orientation, and I tweaked the colors and removed the incorrect year to make it work. Over all pretty happy with this week's layout.

Hoping to catch up this week as well as post some of the other things that I have been working on.
