December Daily 2015 -Day 3 and 4

Here Day 3 and 4 of my December Daily album.

For day 3, I focused on telling the story about the recordable Christmas books my kids have gotten and the issues with the one that they had been recorded singing some Christmas songs.

After being handled and dropped a lot, the Christmas song book, was not working the best. The wiring had gotten unreliable, so after taking it apart, we got it working, and recorded the songs, for the inevitable day that it stopped all together.

Day 4, I included the story about the Lego Advent calendar Aaron got this year. Loved that his shirt happened to match the story!

December Daily 2015 - Day 2

On day 2, we finished hanging ornaments on the tree, and got a bit crafty, making some gift tags for presents we would give later in the season.

For days that used more than one page, I decided that each page would have the number somewhere. I was happy that with this collection there were multiple option for me to include the number. Each day had a red or green number in a postage stamp style. My favorite to use were the ones that were different every day and some looked a bit layered already.

Getting the 6x6 paper pad, there was a paper that had each of the numbers that I could fussy cut out if I needed to, or wanted something a bit smaller.

For this page, I heat embossed another Ali Edwards stamp in silver on vellum to add to my photo.

Stay tuned. Tomorrow I will be sharing more from my December Daily album!

December Daily 2015 - Day 1

Here is my layout for Day 1.

On this day, we began to set up our Christmas tree.

Most of the products used were from the Simple Stories DIY Christmas collection. Other things I added from my stash include Ali Edwards stamp and heat embossed on vellum and a doily.

Used wood veneer star and enamel dots to "decorate" a die cut tree.

Used a couple of Ali Edwards stamps for this layout as well. From my stash, I used a enamel star from Shimelle's collection, I believe, a wood veneer arrow and some silver striped washi from Little B.

Thanks for looking!

December Daily 2015 - Inside cover and Title Page

In November, after seeing what Ali Edwards' December Daily kits and other manufactures were coming out with for Christmas, I had decided that DIY Christmas collection from Simple Stories was the best fit for me. There weren't many icons, and the journaling cards basic. Loved the die cut "numbers" that looked layered but kept things simple but cohesive.

Then I found that www.scrapbooksteals.com had the collection for a great deal. I actually purchased the card and embellishment kit as well as the banner kit to get the pieces I wanted, and spent less than $25 dollars! You can actually still purchase it here!

From my last post, you would see that on my cover I used some brads. To cover these up, I decided to use a die cut from the DIY Christmas collection from Simple Stories. The majority of the supplies I used for this year's album are from that unless noted.

I also stamped the december joy, one of Ali Edwards' stamps and used a circle punch to punch it out.

For my title page, I used a wood veneer that actually goes with another Simple Stories collection that came out at the same time as DIY Christmas as well as a doily from my stash.

I layered up bits from the collection with some enamel dots and called this one done.

December Daily 2015 - Intention and Calendar page

Ali for the past few years has done an intentions page. I decided to do an intentions page as well.

Last year, I also did a calendar page that I decided to do again this year.

I heat embossed the hello december arrow from Ali Edwards in silver embossing powder. It made contact with something before it completely dried and gave it a bit of a matte finish. I just went with it. Used the tiny star stamp from another set from Ali as well as the sentiment at the bottom of the page. Couple of wood veneer stars and called this one done.

I had a blank calendar page from a planner I was given. I cut it out and stamped the numbers, days of the week, as well as the month to decorate it.

Like the overview it gives at the beginning of the album. I don't fill out each day until the end of the month, in case stuff gets moved around.

Ready for the daily pages. Check back tomorrow for Day 1.

December Daily 2015 -Cover

When preparing for my December Daily, I first had to figure out the size and format that I wanted my album to be for 2015.

Studio Calico had sent another 6x8 album as part of Ali Edwards' December Daily kit in 2014 because the stars on the background were upside down. I had used the "defect" in 2014 and had a perfectly good album then for 2015.

For my album cover, I used Mod Podge on the raw chipboard portion with white tissue paper. The white of the paper didn't cover the color well enough so I also added some white paint in one of the layers to get it the color white I wanted.

Once that was all dry, I used some of the remaining silver glitter tape from a previous Ali Edwards December Daily kit and used it to transition between the red and what I just added.

Using Stayz on ink, I found multiple december stamps in Ali's handwriting that I have collected over the years and randomly stamped them all over.

Using a die cut from Simple Stories DIY Christmas collection, I placed the silver metal numbers from Tim Holtz. I was inspired to use these after seeing Ali Edwards use them on her cover and realized I also had them in my stash. I chose to use the brads through the chipboard for added stability.  Just had to creatively cover them up on the inside cover.

Haven't decided how to share the pages of this album. Too many photos for one post. So stay tuned for more of my album soon!
