December Daily 2016- Day 9

Here is my layout from Day 9.

This layout wound up being a favorite of mine. I loved how the patterned paper peeked out at just the right spots. This paper is from SEI's Alpine Frost collection, back when I used to subscribe to their kits.

On a side note, I was surprised to see that they still have their membership and kits available. No commitment required, and you get a lot for the money!

Back to the layout.... I didn't have to do much to this in the way of embellishing because of the background, but I added a few stamped sentiments from Ali Edwards' stamp sets to have in 3 places on the layout.

Thanks for checking me out! Visit again soon!

December Daily 2016- Day 8

Here is my layout for Day 8.

This layout was the 3rd I completed. I had it photoed ready to share until I decided to go back and add the doily in the layers. I never got around to taking another photo to share, because making pages is so much more fun than that. :)

Most of this layout uses an old paper collection from Stampin' Up! The journaling card is from the Simple Stories DIY Christmas collection with a sticker to embellish from the same collection.

I didn't have a photo from this day, because it was about attending mass, and I tend to leave my phone in the car, but I did take a prayer card on the way out shown on this layout.

Thanks for checking out my December Daily pages!

December Daily 2016- Day 7

Here is my December Daily layout for Day 7.

Let me apologize first off that the photo is a bit crooked. I am trying to make this as pain-free as possible and sometimes that means going with photos of the layouts that are less than perfect.

So the background for this layout is from Ali Edwards' December Daily kit from a couple of years ago. I had some neutral patterns left over that I knew could work with this year's "kit".

I made this super simple creating a few banners on the upper left corner that gave me a place to anchor the metal number.

I layered a circle sticker from the Alpine Frost collection with the Simple Stories number for the main embellishment. The patterns from this page are from an old Stampin' Up! paper pack.

Finding a place for the snowflake sequins, even though this December didn't have much snow.

Thanks for visiting!

December Daily 2016- Day 6

Here is the layout I made for Day 6.

I used patterned paper form the Simple Stories DIY Christmas collection. The green strip is another pattern from SEI that has a glitter treatment. It came from a 4x6 pad in the Alpine Frost collection.

To repeat the black and white of the die cut on the second page, I went with the Ali Edwards' banner stamp in black ink. Love how Ali's ink pads have such great coverage on these kinds of stamps.
Used some of Ali stamps to add the sentiments to the label tab stickers.

My mom hosts a table at her church dessert gala. She had cut the dies out and had one on each of the place settings at the event. It was a no-brainer to include it on today's layout.

Just added the charm for day 6 with a bit of black and white twine and this page was complete.

Thanks for checking out my December Daily pages!

December Daily 2016- Day 5

Here is my layout for Day 5.

Another day of having fun with stamps! I figured that since I have bought them, it was time to get them inky and used! All of the stamps used are from Ali Edwards stamps. Some old, some new, but all December/ Christmas sets.

For Christmas, I received Ali Edwards' new craft inks (both releases). Once I had seen Ali stamp and go during her December Daily videos, my fear of a long dry time was eliminated and put them on my wish list. They are heavenly!

I even stamped with the white on my photo! Now I get my photos from Persnickety Prints with a matte finish. The dry time for this was quite long, I ended up letting it go overnight, but better than burning my photo white heat embossing.

Here are some close ups of the stamping.

Here is page 2 of the layout.

I created a photo strip of my photos using PSE. It is a great way to capture action shots in a row.

The Joy to the World was also stamped using an AE stamp.

Here are some more close ups of the stamping.

December Daily 2016- Day 3

So Day 3 was quite busy and I wanted to include ALL of the big stories of the day. I ended up creating quite a few pages for this one!

It was Maddie's First Reconciliation, which is a big deal around here. Disappointed they didn't have a tree set up yet, like they had 2 years earlier with my son for the photo, but what can you do?

I wanted to repeat some elements from Day 2 on this page, so I used a scrap of the background paper, as well as the rest of the sprayed doily. The other patterns and papers were also repeated, just in different amounts.

For this layout, I had some fun with my stamps. I am not a fan of colored card stock backgrounds, but I had recently took an old Nichol Magourik stamp class and thought I could create my own patterned paper using some of the many December Daily stamps that I have.

I repetitively stamped the "celebrate this" sentiment multiple times. I also used the phrases stamp from this year to match the framed "first" word stamp from the Firsts Story Stamp set.

Used some alphas from Kelly Purkey/Simon Says Stamp and Simple stories to create the title along with the "first" and put my journaling in a banner shape. Outlined the pieces for more framing and contrast.

Here is the second layout for Day 3.

This red paper is my favorite paper in the SEI collection. It has a glitter finish on most of the snowflakes. I used a few Tim Holtz/Sizzix dies for this layout as well as some Simple Stories die cuts from the DIY Christmas I had left over from last year.

For the photos on this layout, I created a photo collage in PSE. Used a metal number three from Tim Holtz. I had used the 1 and 5 last year on the cover of last year's album and thought it matched the other metal numbers I was using.

The file tabs on the right are a Tim Holtz die but the green is a sticker from Simple Stories.  The journaling block on this page is a Tim Holtz die as well. Used a banner from my friend's Simple Stories Claus and Co. stash.

The chipboard snow flake was from the SEI collection.

My third and last layout for Day 3:

Here I utilized some patterned papers left over from an Ali Edwards' December Daily kit. I cut the snow flakes from scraps of the 12x12 paper, I wouldn't be able to use as background and had them embellish the pages.

Initially I was going to make this one side, but with day 4 complete and a 2 pager, I easily stretched it to two.

The Simple Stories number sticker found its home on this page, I used an old Ali Edwards'/Technique Tuesday stamp and coordinating die for the "remember this". I heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Running out of the number threes that would coordinate, I found a little circle from the same Simple Stories sticker sheet as the other number. Repeated the white embossed label using a December Daily label set.

So there you go, day 3 complete.

Hope you visit again soon! Day 4 was already posted, but should have day 5 up in a few days!

December Daily 2016- Day 2

Here is my layout for Day 2:

Since the background was rather busy, I struggled with how to use it. I pulled out some ribbon from a previous Ali Edwards December Daily kit as well as the gauze-like ribbon from the SEI collection, Aspen Frost.

Used a doily sprayed with mist to color it silver, so it wouldn't get lost on the background and it softened the liner design and repeated the circle shape.

Most of my photos, I edited in PSE, to have them a more manageable size to fit on the 6x8 page size. In doing so I created white borders around all of them, where possible. Just like how that looks and can always trim it off if it doesn't work.

There is Day 2. Day 3 should be posted soon! Thanks for stopping by!

December Daily 2016- Day 1

It has been a while since I have posted anything, but I promise I have made major progress with my December Daily album. Taking and posting photos of the project isn't my favorite, and when the sun just doesn't cooperate, I just have a hard time getting it done.

Here is my layout for Day 1.

Using the kit I have created has left me feeling a bit inspired. Creating all 6x8 pages has also been rather fun in this process.

This paper I used for Day 1 was a bit dark and brown on one side so I cut my 6x8 background focusing more on the creamy sections. Although this photo doesn't show it well, the paper has a white finish on the scrolls at the bottom that is rather lovely.

I used a frame a friend gave me from her DD stuff from last year. It is from the Simple Stories Christmas collection from last year, Claus and Co.

I used one of Ali Edwards' stamps that she released this year. Love the phrase on this one, perfect for advent calendars and things.

The paper I backed the frame in had a glitter treatment that was lovely as well. Using the Tim Holtz numbers is a little tricky, because to be readable, they can't be on top of anything too busy.

Something you will see me use throughout this album is the black and white twine, as well as the snow flake sequins.

Something else that I intend to use are some number stickers from Simple Stories in their Handmade Holidays collection. I found it nice to use these with the higher contrast and larger size. I like having the number on every individual page to make it clear which day it is for.

Used some Tim Holtz/Sizzix dies to create the label and journaling block.

So there you have it. I should have Day 2 posted soon.

Enjoy!
