Our Destination: Sunny California

I am in love with this layout! It started with the Amy Tangerine line. I saw the sun and thought of our move to sunny california.

I hold on to tons of memorabilia and decided that I needed to make sure that the plane tickets had a home on this layout.

One of my favorite elements on this page is the title. Started with the Amy Tangerine Thickers for the california. Stamped the "sunny" with the Alpha-bits stamp from Stampin' Up! (retired). Then I punched the letters out using the coordinating square punch from Stampin' Up!. I think they look like store bought stickers that are popular right now. I love that I can make them any color that I want and never run out of any particular letter! I then used some Technique Tuesday, Ali Edwards stamps for the rest of the title. I used the Amy Tangerine stamp set for the plane and cloud element. Stamped it twice and cut the plane out and popped it up to match the pre-made dimensional stickers on the matching page.
Last but not least I added a cloud (stars) punched using a Fiskars punch.

Used a square block grid on the second page.

This is my favorite square on this layout. In the Amy Tangerine line one of the patterned papers was a map. Only problem was that it didn't contain the west coast! So instead of cutting out our destination, I cut out our home town and added the "You are my favorite" and heart stickers.

Then when looking at the barcode strip piece, I realized it was map of Los Angeles! So I used that on the outside border.

Lots of journaling on this one! Loved that this arrangement of the layout allowed for all of it!

One thing about this layout, after listening to this episode of Paperclipping.com round table, this was not a cheap layout :) Been loving their radio show. Check them out! Love when they have my faves, Ali Edwards, Stacy Julian, or Shimelle on!

Thanks for looking!

Project Life Week 1-23-12

So here is my first completed Project Life layout. If you want to learn more about what Project Life is, go here.

Trying to figure out how much "stuff" I want to add to my PL pages. I haven't decided if I want to have titles on my date block (eg: Week3). Trying to decide how I want to link the journaling card to the photos (in this one I did a few things, put the day of the week on both and used arrows.) I also realized with this project that I have more words usually than I have stuff. Trying to figure out how fit it all in :)

May be a bit difficult to read some of this. The typed journaling card is actually an email sent from Aaron's preschool that had photos attached of him in class. I love that on occasion they do this so I can include these moments even though I am not there!

On this page, it was a big deal this week that Chuck had ended, so I found an image off the internet to print to add. I also added this card from Cabela's that Madeline found because I didn't take pictures of our trip shopping there.

Lots of holes to fill for the next few weeks....some pictures that got overlooked for printing. A lot of journaling cards that have to be filled out....hoping to get into a groove with the project soon!

New Toy of the Year

When starting this layout, I found the perfect challenge for these photos. My Mind's Eye has this April challenge: This month we want you to share any project (card, layout, altered item) that displays hexagons. I had actually set aside this My Mind's Eye paper from the Fine and Dandy collection that had hexagons all over it!

My other inspiration for this layout came from a sketch from Got Sketch?
I cut the pennants out of the paper from My Mind's Eye.

Because I wanted to put more focus on the toy itself I paper pieced my own paper hexbug as an embellishment. Instead of a scroll side element I repeated the hexagon shape.

Found some letter stickers in my stash that were from SEI. What's nice was that there were two fonts in the same color and size. Then I used some tiny letter stickers from Girls Paperie. Stamped the date with the Smash date stamp.

Thanks for looking!

Been a while....

I haven't blogged in a while. It has been because I haven't scrapped in a while! Nothing to completion anyway! Been reading and watching Mad Men (now on season 2).

I did just put in an order for over 200 photos.

Been busy organizing my next big project, Madeline's baby album. Her baby book is a side project to that. The journaling that goes into the album will also be put in the monthly sections of that.

Project Life is in planning stages. :) Until I get photos, it is hard to complete anything. Here are some photo collages I put together for Project Life.  The first is of a trip to the Magic House.

This is a collage I put together for a walk that Madeline and I took looking at the signs of spring.

I am loving that random photos from our day to day routine now have a home. That I don't have to try to include a layout for every trip to the Magic House! Love that it has a place to store bits and pieces of our life, like some of Aaron's artwork.

Hope to share some layouts soon! Working on something now, just have to wrap it up with some journaling.
