Food I don’t eat

I have had this layout on my bucket list for a while now, back when the eat Story Class content was released.

I am a picky eater, and I wanted to document the food that I don’t eat. I think it will be interesting to see if the list will continue to change as I get older.

I used two stock photos off the internet. I thought the second would be fun with putting X’s on the food I don’t eat. The other photo I liked because I thought it would be perfect for placing the title on.

The papers are from an old food line by Cosmo Cricket. I didn’t end up using any of the icons in the collection. They just didn’t work for this story. Instead I cut labels and fussy cut the flower shapes for layering and embellishments.

I wound up using quite a few different Story Stamp sets to find sentiments that would work as well.

Ultimately, I love this one and happy to have this story told!

Evening Routine

When the Evening Story theme came out, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to capture our family evening/bedtime routine. One of Ali Edwards design team created a layout that I scrap-lifted almost entirely. Her layout was 6x8, I believe, and I wanted my layout to be 12 x12. I created the base as 8.5x11 and mounted it on coordinating pattern paper.

I used AM/PM stamps to create the title as well as the stars and sentiment stamps on the half circles, I heat embossed with silver powder.

Super happy with how this one turned out! Even though the layout was designed by someone else, finding the photos and figuring out how to construct this one with what I had was an enjoyable process for me. Love it!

Ally’s First Birthday

Last year I had my second daughter’s baby album on my list to make progress on. Pipe dream would have finished it Because other projects took longer than expected, and life did what it does, got in the way, I didn’t make as much progress as I would have hoped.

You have seen a few previous posts of some monthly layouts that I completed as part of my Type class from Ali Edwards.

This layout I decided to do because I was excited to do it. I had the photos, the sketch and products all picked out. I just had to give myself the time to pull it all together.

So happy on how this turned out!

All of the paper comes from Simple Stories. The pink background was from the High Style paper pad. The rest came from Magical birthday collection pack.

Used some doilies from my stash. Love how they softened up an otherwise blocky layout.

I did something on this layout that I don’t typically do— journaled directly on the background by hand.

The birthday ticket was created with a Studio Calico stamp set. So fun to layer the different stamps in this set to create a title.

The stitching was a bit of a labor of love. There is quite a bit of it and once I started, I kept adding more. Love the texture it adds.

Love that I was able to include so many snapshots of this moment and have this layout to add to my daughter’s album. Hoping in 2022 I will have more space to make more progress and maybe even complete this album.

Thanks for looking!

Ally’s Baby Album- 3 months

The last layout I created for my daughter’s baby album said it was 3 months, but this is the correct 3 month page!

This layout was another inspired by Ali Edwards’ Type class. For this layout I used a mixed media paper from Vicki Boutin. Love how I get the mixed media look with out the work or mess!

I used a month die I cut on my silhouette to bring repetition in this album.

To play with type on this one, I die cut an Ali Edwards digital stamp out on my Silhouette multiple times and stitched them down the page for an artistic feel. I wish I would have overlapped them more and made it look a bit more organic, but I do like the overall effect.

Happy to have made progress on this baby album and have played some more with type.

Thanks for stopping by!

6 Word Story layout

The layout I am sharing today has been on my list to create for a long time. This one is inspired by Ali Edwards’ Hello Story class. The assignment was to create a layout with a 6 word story. That’s it. No more journaling. This was a huge challenge for me. I tend to want to write a novel on each page!

I googled 6 word stories and found quite a few that resonated with me. This one felt like it said it all and I would be least compelled to say anything else.

After taking Ali Edwards’ Type class last year, type was very much on the mind. I liked the idea of mixing multiple fonts and textures to create the title/story.

I gold embossed the strong word from the Ali Edwards’ story stamp theme strong.

The hearts and border scallops were dies. The heart was a Tim holtz die from Sizzix and the border was from Pink Fresh.

Loved how this layout came out and glad to have the idea that has been in my head for years to come to life!
